Storage we coordinate

Warehousing and cross-dock coordinated with independent partner warehouses

When freight has to wait between two trucks, we look for room in an independent warehouse near the route and plan the storage and the transportation as one job.

Who needs storage near the route

Storage usually fills the gap between two trucks. For example:

  • Importers waiting for an appointment: pallets out of the container wait in a warehouse near the route, not on a truck, until the delivery appointment opens.
  • Retail suppliers staging a store reset: pallets are sorted by store and delivery date, ready for the truck that takes them to the reset.
  • E-commerce overflow: inventory that doesn't fit in your own space during busy weeks goes to a partner warehouse near your customers.
  • Transfers between trucks: freight goes from one truck to another at a cross-dock: a full load split into local deliveries, or several pickups combined into one truck.

How we set it up

We plan the storage and the trucks together, so the warehouse and the carrier work from the same dates and the same pallet count.

  1. Send the pallet count, the dates in and out, and the city or route the warehouse should be near.
  2. Before anything is booked, you get the storage price from us, with any minimum charge included.
  3. We book the trucks in and out with vetted carriers, timed to the warehouse dates.

Storage questions

Who is responsible for my goods while they are stored?

The warehouse. Storage is provided by independent warehouse operators. You (or your designee) remain the owner and depositor of your goods; the warehouse is the bailee and is responsible for them while they are in its care, under its warehouse receipt and the law, which can limit the amount it owes. It issues its receipts to you. The warehouse legal liability insurance we ask it to carry covers that responsibility; it isn't insurance on your goods, so for full value insure them under your own policy. Bear Shift coordinates the service, never holds goods in its own name, and helps you with any claim.

Can you also arrange the trucks in and out?

Yes. Choose “Both” in the form, or tell us when you ask for storage. We arrange the truck that brings your pallets to the warehouse and the one that takes them out with vetted carriers, and you approve each price before anything is booked.

How fast can I get a price?

Storage is priced by a person: tell us what you need through the form, by phone or by message, and we reply with the price. Full answer

How do I pay?

You approve the price first. New customers pay before the truck leaves. Full answer
